The Balance Scale Museum, the only one of its kind in Italy, documents the history of weighing and measuring from the Middle Ages to the present day. It displays balance scales, platform scales, steelyards, and a wide array of documents including posters, catalogues, original prints, and photographs of vintage equipment.
The Museum is an integral part of the productive system of the area, for which it serves both as historic archive of sorts and as a hub for historic, technical, and scientific knowledge.
Since 1991 it is also a National Documentation Centre, which is authorized to collect, organize, and disseminate documentation that will help broaden the scope of research on balance scales.
